Align Tool - A Customizable Crosshair Utility
The ultimate crosshair utility for astrophotography? We think so! Our Align Tool
can be resized to fit any size of exposure window and includes a center circle, a single or double lined reticule, and
an X reticule, all of which can be turned on or off individually. You can also adjust the thickness of the lines, the
size of the circle, and the line spacing for the double line reticule. The Align Tool also includes targets to mark other
than centered objects in an exposure so that precise realignment of a CCD camera can be achieved the following night or after
a meridian flip! Once you have the tool setup the way you want it you can then save the tool as a template and recall
it any time you need it, making this the perfect on screen reticule tool for those who own multiple cameras with
different size chips or cameras that include binning, but that's not all! The Imager's Toolkit Align Tool
also includes a drift alignment count down timer with on screen and audio alarms. Take our toolkit for a FREE 14
day test drive and we're sure you'll agree, it's the best tool of it's kind on the planet!
Align Tool Settings
After adjusting the tool to fit your exposure window you can then customize the tool's elements
to suit your needs by using it's settings dialog. Here you can change the color of individual elements, the thickness
of the lines, and the space between the double reticule lines. The user can even turn each of the elements on or off.
Also notice that the drift align alarms are controlled on this dialog. You can select the two colors to use for the flashing
screen alarm and set the audio alarm to any wav sound you want to use or leave it set to the default wav file that's included
with the package.
A checkbox at the top of the settings dialog allows the user to turn the tool's background
off making it transparent, which will allow you to select stars in the exposure for focusing or for the drizzle derotation
feature that's included with some imaging software packages like the DSI's Envisage software.
Does your imaging software include a good Night
Mode setting? Tired of raising the red plastic sheet to see your image and ruining your dark adaption because the computer
screen is bright white? What if you could have a software tool that would cover your screen with whatever color you want,
and would let you open a window through it and place it anywhere you want in any size that you want, and to top it off you
could still have complete click-through control of your software and computer without having to remove the tool and ruin your
dark adaption? And to top it off you could even use your Align Tool cross hair reticule at the same time? Well, now
you can!
Set the Night Mode
Screen to your custom color and brightness by using the key combination of CONTROL-S
to bring up the settings dialog then click the color rectangle to use the Windows Color Picker. After setting your color use
SHIFT-W to open a clear window thru your Night Mode Screen, place it using the
ARROW KEYS, then size it using the SHIFT+CONTROL - ARROW KEYS. Now, operate
your software using your mouse and keyboard just like normal thru your Night Mode Screen. To close the tool
press the ESC KEY.
The Ruler Tool allows the user to place multiple rulers on the screen to make measurements
in pixels. You have control over making the ruler vertical or horizontal, and you can set it's opacity, color, length,
width, and more!. Once done making custom settings each ruler can then be saved to a template and recalled whenever needed.
Customizable Astrometric
Tool
The Astrometric tool works very much like the astrometric
eyepiece. The user has control of it's settings in much the same way as the other tools, you can set each elements color,
the size of the tool, and it's opacity. The user will have to calibrate the tool to the proper size, position the tool
correctly, and will then be able to rotate the tool using the mouse wheel or arrow keys. A read out on the tool displays it's
current size and degree of rotation.
